At the moment, I'm enjoying it. I'm not sure how well it will scale for me personally over time as # of follows increases. I don't use twitter from my phone at all. I do send direct messages to it, and let people know they can use it for last minute change of plans sorts of things. However...this means I'd have to upgrade to a more expensive plan. And my phone really does suck. Messages are buried behind several menus, and it requires many button presses to navigate through those menus to either read or delete messages. I find it hard to justify spending extra money on a messaging or data plan unless I have a phone worthy of texting.
